Krista Berntsen is looking forward to another incredible year at Ocean Air. She is committed to creating a joyful environment where students learn at high levels and create happy memories. Ocean Air is an incredible school and she is honored to have the opportunity to inspire students to be the best they can be both in and out of the classroom.

Mrs. Berntsen has had the opportunity to learn and grow as an educator for the past 20 years as a K-8 teacher, principal, and learner.  She spent several years in the Carlsbad Unified School District and most recently, served as an administrator in the Vista Unified School District.  She loves working in a district and community where the vision and actions have an eye towards the future, knowing every child will thrive in a setting that is relevant, rigorous, and one that inspires joy.

Mrs. Berntsen lives in Carlsbad with her husband Gary. She enjoys relaxing at the beach, traveling, listening to audiobooks and music, baking sourdough bread, and spending time with friends and family. 

She is here to support every student as they continue their love for learning, remain curious about the world around them, and strive to be the very best they can be!  She is  grateful to partner with such an incredible community on this journey to ignite genius in every student!
